Prior to 2000 there were no designated places for Muslims to meet their religious obligations in Southern parts of South Calgary. A group of volunteers recognized this vacuum and started renting community halls where Friday prayers could be held. Over the years the number of places increased from 1 to 8, and for effective management a non-profit public organization, Sayyidah Khadijah Islamic Centre (SKIC) was formally established in 2021 to serve the Muslim community in South Calgary and neighboring smaller cities.
· Provision of Islamic Education services
· Arrangements for Muslims to meet their spiritual obligations
· Support members of the community in need.
· Facilitate professional development opportunities for the community
· To be a leading non-profit company in corporate governance
To be a unifying Islamic organization that contributes to the betterment of the SW Muslim community and all of society at large.
